Why a six-bed home is different

In California, homes like ours are licensed as Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE), the same license as large assisted living communities. The difference is scale, and scale changes almost everything about a day.

All About Home Care A typical large community
Residents under one roof Six, at most Often 60 to 150 or more
Who you talk to The owner, directly Front desk, then the right department
Caregivers The same small team, every day Rotating staff across floors and shifts
Meals Cooked in our kitchen, served at one table Dining room service on a set schedule
Noticing small changes Within hours, by people who know the baseline Depends on who is on shift
Setting A quiet house on a residential street A larger building with hallways and common rooms

Large communities offer more on-site amenities. A small home offers more attention. Many families find that the second matters more as needs grow.

Locally owned. Personally run.

All About Home Care is not part of a chain. The owner is in the house every week, knows every resident by name, and makes decisions on the spot instead of waiting on a regional office.

Medications handled with care
Every prescription is reconciled at move-in, organized, and given on time by trained staff, and reviewed with the doctor and pharmacy whenever anything changes.
Changes caught early
A new cough, a fall risk, a shift in appetite or mood. A small, steady team notices early and calls the doctor before small problems become hospital visits.
One voice with the doctors
We coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, home health nurses and hospice, and we explain what was said in plain words afterward.
Smoother hospital returns
After a hospital or rehab stay, we review discharge orders with the doctor and home health team so the first days back are safe and calm.

The heart of the house. Morning news, afternoon music, family visits on the couch. Large windows keep it bright, and there is always a chair near someone to talk to.

A day here

Routines bring comfort, especially with memory changes. Ours are steady but never rigid. Residents sleep in, skip an activity or take a second cup of coffee.

Moving in, step by step

Most families move from first call to move-in within one to two weeks. Faster is possible after a hospital discharge. We help with every form.

  1. Talk with us

A 15-minute call about your loved one's health, routines and what worries you most.

  2. Visit the home

Meet the caregivers and residents, see the rooms, stay for a meal if you like. Video tours are available for family out of town.

  3. Care assessment

A free in-person assessment, plus a physician's report and a recent TB screening, as California requires.

  4. Care plan and agreement

We write the care plan together, review the admission agreement line by line and confirm the rate.

  5. Move-in day

Bring favorite furniture, photos and a familiar quilt. We set up the room and medications before arrival.

What is an RCFE, or board and care home?

A Residential Care Facility for the Elderly is a home licensed by the California Department of Social Services to provide housing, meals, personal care and supervision for adults 60 and older. Small RCFEs like ours are often called board and care homes. They are not nursing homes; they are for people who need help with daily life but not round-the-clock skilled nursing.

Who is a good fit for your home?

Seniors who can no longer live safely alone, need help with bathing, dressing or medications, are living with memory changes, are returning from a hospital stay, or whose family caregivers need support. Our care assessment confirms the fit before anyone moves in.

Do you care for people with dementia?

Yes, we support residents with early to moderate dementia, with calm routines, a small familiar team and a safe, quiet home. We will talk openly about what we can and cannot provide as needs progress.

Can my parent stay with you on hospice?

Yes. Many families want their loved one to stay in a familiar place at the end of life. We work alongside your chosen hospice agency so your parent does not have to move.

How are medications handled?

Trained caregivers give and record every dose, following the doctor's orders. Medication lists are reviewed with the pharmacy and doctor at move-in and whenever there is a change, and we coordinate refills.

When can we visit?

Families are welcome any day. We just ask that you avoid late-night hours so residents can rest. Video calls can be arranged anytime.

What happens if care needs increase?

We update the care plan and talk with you first. Many needs can be met here as they grow. If someone eventually needs skilled nursing beyond what our license allows, we help plan the transition carefully.

What is the difference between a board and care home and a large assisted living community?

In California both are licensed as RCFEs. A board and care home like ours cares for six or fewer residents in a regular house, so the same few caregivers know each person well and the setting stays quiet. Large communities serve dozens or hundreds of residents and offer more on-site amenities.

Where is All About Home Care located?

We are at 4072 Clarewood Way, Sacramento, CA 95835, in North Natomas, a few minutes from I-5 and Highway 99. Families come to us from across the Sacramento area, including Natomas, South Natomas, downtown Sacramento, West Sacramento, Rio Linda, Elverta and Roseville.

How much does All About Home Care cost?

One all-inclusive monthly rate covers the room, meals, care, medication management, laundry and activities. The rate depends on the room type and the level of care, so we give a written quote after a free care assessment. Call 916-600-9243 for current rates and availability.

Do you offer short-term respite stays?

Yes, when a room is available. Respite stays give family caregivers time to rest, travel or recover, and give your loved one a chance to try life in a small home. The same assessment and paperwork apply as for a long-term stay.

How quickly can someone move in after a hospital discharge?

Often within a few days, once a room is open and the physician's report and TB screening are complete. Call us as soon as the discharge planner mentions placement and we will work directly with the hospital team.

How can I check your license?

Every licensed care home in California can be looked up on the state's Care Facility Search, including inspection reports. Our facility number is 345920559. We encourage every family to look us up.
